Israel has not been able to confirm the identity of a body released by Hamas.

As part of the on going ceasefire, Hamas released the bodies of several hostages to Israel. However, Israel has not been able to identify one of the bodies that was released. Israel and the US have accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire deal and have threatened retaliation. The prospect of a long term ceasefire is in doubt as the US and Israel have floated the US taking ownership of the Gaza Strip.
