Israel releases 15 Palestinian bodies as truce deal shifts to next phase

Israel has released the bodies of fifteen Palestinian prisoners as part of the second phase of the truce.

Israel has returned 15 bodies of Palestinians to Gaza shortly after recovering the remains of its last hostage, an action mediators hope will help advance the next stage of the U.S.‑brokered peace plan. The ICRC said this marks the culmination of a months‑long operation tied to the ceasefire’s first phase, which included exchanges of living and deceased hostages and prisoners. Gaza’s health ministry confirmed receipt of the bodies and noted the difficulty of identifying many remains, while ongoing violence continues to strain the fragile ceasefire.
