Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez, mayor of Uruapan, was shot seven times during Day of the Dead celebrations and later died at a hospital. The attacker, linked to prior cartel clashes, was killed at the scene. Residents marched in protest, calling for justice and denouncing the ruling party. Manzo had publicly accused state officials of corruption and sought federal help before his death.
