The Netherlands has formally protested the seizing of diplomatic luggage by Iran.

The Netherlands summoned Iran’s ambassador after a Dutch diplomat’s luggage was seized at Tehran airport on January 28, 2026. Dutch officials called the incident unacceptable and repeatedly demanded the return of the confiscated items. Iran later released footage of the incident, prompting a formal diplomatic protest. The Dutch foreign ministry provided no details about the contents of the seized luggage.
