Nigerian troops have rescued dozens of hostages.

Nigerian troops rescued 62 hostages and killed two militants in coordinated operations across Kebbi and Zamfara states amid a surge of kidnappings by armed gangs. The military attacked a known hideout in Zamfara following intelligence that captives were held there. In a separate operation near the Kebbi–Sokoto border, troops ambushed Lakurawa militants based on tracked movements. Officials say the actions are part of broader efforts to dismantle armed networks responsible for widespread regional insecurity.
