Paramilitary group in Sudan shells famine-stricken camp in Darfur, killing 31 people

Paramilitary shelling kills civilians in Darfur displacement camp.

Paramilitary forces shelled the Abu Shouk camp near el-Fasher, killing at least 31 people, including children and a pregnant woman, according to the Sudan Doctors Network. It was the second attack on the camp in a week, part of the Rapid Support Forces’ push to take the army’s last stronghold in Darfur. Local groups reported heavy damage to homes and camp infrastructure during the hours-long shelling. The civil war, ongoing since April 2023, has displaced millions and triggered famine and war crimes investigations.
