On Tuesday, the U.S. accused a Sudanese paramilitary group of committing genocide in Sudan. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken said that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had committed acts of genocide. The RSP is a paramilitary group fighting against Sudan’s military, and has conducted ethnically targeted violence in Darfur. Backing the accusation of genocide, the Treasury Department enacted sanctions against the RSF’s leader, General Mohamed Hamdan, and seven companies in the United Arab Emirates.
