A prominent opposition leader in Tanzania has been arrested.

A prominent opposition leader in Tanzania has been arrested on charges of treason after calling for electoral reform. The country is set to hold a general election in October of this year. Opposition parties have been critical of election laws which they say advantage the ruiling party. Tanzania has been governed by the CCM party since its independence in 1961.
