Tough talk drags on in Cambodia-Thailand border standoff. But tensions appear to be easing.

Cambodia has not withdrawn troops from contested land, but both sides seek a peaceful resolution.

Following an armed confrontation the previous week, Cambodia’s Defense Ministry states that the country’s troops have not withdrawn from a disputed patch of land. However, both Cambodia and Thailand’s Defense Ministers state their forces have been withdrawn to where they were in 2024. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet vowed to end this problem in the International Court of Justice so that there is no further confusion.
