Ukraine’s Zelenskiy expects implementation of agreement not to fire on Kyiv

Ukraine experts Russia to fully implement a proposed agreement to temporarily halt attack on Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he expects Russia to implement a U.S.-announced agreement not to fire on Kyiv and other cities for a week due to winter weather. He noted that upcoming days would show whether Moscow abides by the deal, which was discussed in the United Arab Emirates. Zelenskiy thanked Washington for helping halt strikes on energy infrastructure and expressed hope the pause would support de-escalation. He added that Ukraine would closely monitor its energy facilities and cities in the coming days.
