China has handed over control of a satellite ground station to Namibia.
Chinese officials handed over a newly built satellite ground station near Windhoek to Namibia, marking an expansion of Beijing’s overseas space cooperation. The facility will significantly enhance Namibia’s ability to receive and process remote‑sensing satellite data. Although Namibia will fully own and operate the station, Chinese experts will continue providing technical support to locally trained technicians. A second phase of the project is also planned as part of China’s broader effort to deepen space partnerships across Africa.
