China retaliates with tariffs on US goods after Trump’s move 

China has retaliated against Trump’s new tariffs by imposing ones of its own. On Tuesday, China announced that there would be 10 percent tariffs on imports from the U.S. of crude oil, agricultural machinery, displacement vehicles, and some trucks. Additionally, China imposed a 15 percent tariff on imports from the U.S. of coal and liquefied natural gas. China’s Ministry of Finance stated that the U.S. tariffs “seriously violate World Trade Organization rules.” Beijing’s tariffs will begin on February 10, giving time for presidents Trump and Xi to reach an agreement before the measures take effect. Currently, goods from China are facing an additional 10 percent tariff in the U.S.
