El Salvador’s Congress has voted to allow mineral mining.

El Salvador’s Congress has passed a bill to allow for mineral mining. This bill ends a seven year ban on mineral mining within the country. President Nayib Bukele is expected to sign bill as he has previously expressed support for the measure. There was has been deep opposition to the bill with the Catholic Church and environmental groups lobbying heavily against it.
