European Union officials are preparing to vet and vote on a list of retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. this week. These officials are looking at a two-part approach to the recent tariffs, both offering to cut tariffs on American-made products and preparing to retaliate with tariffs of their own. The EU is considering employing a “zero-for-zero” approach, in which it would eliminate tariffs on goods if the U.S. did the same in exchange. However, the bloc is also prepared to hit back at the U.S. with tariffs and other trade barriers if a deal cannot be reached in the next few days.
