France has approved two tax increases on multinational corporations.

French lawmakers approved two unexpected tax hikes on multinational corporations, including a new levy based on global revenues and a doubling of the digital tax on tech giants, despite opposition from Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s government. These measures were backed by an unusual alliance between far-right and hard-left parties. Finance Minister Roland Lescure warned that the tax changes could violate international treaties and harm France’s appeal to foreign investors. The amendments still face potential rejection in the conservative-controlled Senate or by the constitutional court.
