French government has forced part of the budget bill through the lower house without a vote.
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu invoked Article 49.3 to push the income portion of the 2026 budget bill through the National Assembly without a vote after months of parliamentary deadlock. Opposition parties, including France Unbowed and National Rally, responded by preparing no‑confidence motions. Despite this, the government appears to have enough support to survive the motions. The bill will proceed to the Senate, with the full budget expected to pass by early February.
