An Italian court has blocked a plan to build a bridge to Sicily.
The Court of Auditors of Italy rejected the €13.5 billion plan by the Giorgia Meloni’s government to build a massive suspension bridge connecting Sicily to the mainland, marking a major setback for her administration. While the decision doesn’t formally kill the project, it could significantly delay it and force a new approval process. Meloni and her transport minister ally Matteo Salvini criticized the ruling as political interference rather than a technical judgment.
