Samsung’s non‑chip union, which represents about 13,000 workers in smartphone, TV, and home‑appliance divisions, has filed an injunction to halt a vote being conducted by semiconductor‑division workers on a proposed bonus increase. The union says it was told it had no right to participate in the vote, prompting the legal action. Meanwhile, roughly 57,000 semiconductor workers began voting on a pay deal intended to secure large bonuses and avert an 18‑day strike. The dispute highlights growing tensions between Samsung’s different labor groups as the company works to prevent disruptions in its critical memory‑chip operations.
