Trump says reciprocal tariffs will target ‘all countries’ 

U.S. President Trump has announced that his upcoming reciprocal tariffs will apply to all countries. The tariffs will take place starting on April 2, and it will start with “all countries,” in lieu of only targeting economies with the biggest trade imbalances. This contrasts with what White House economics advisor Kevin Hassett has suggested earlier this month, alluding that the tariffs would instead focus only on 10 to 15 countries accounting for a majority of the U.S. trade deficit. The specific details of the trade retaliation plans have not yet been announced, but stock markets around the globe have fallen in anticipation of the disruptions.
