President Trump has announced that any country purchasing oil or gas from Venezuela will be subject to a 25-percent tariff in trade with the United States. These tariffs were announced on Monday morning and will be enacted on April 2. In the announcement, Trump criticized Venezuela for enabling migration to the U.S., additionally attacking the country’s government. The tariff will also impact China, which is the largest consumer of Venezuelan energy products. Shortly after, Trump stated that he would also enact tariffs on pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and aluminum.
