What to know about inspections of Iran’s nuclear program by the IAEA ahead of a key board vote

IAEA is expected to inspect the reported stockpiles of Iran and report its findings to the UN Security Council.

This week, Western nations will press the IAEA’s Board of Governors to formally censure Iran for failing to comply with inspectors. If approved, Iran could face the reinstatement of all U.N. sanctions originally lifted under its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. Without an agreement granting U.N. inspectors full access, Iran’s struggling economy may deteriorate further under renewed sanctions.
