The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently investigating an “act of terrorism” which occurred early on New Year’s Day in New Orleans. A Ford pickup truck drove into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, which is one of the U.S.’s most visited cities. At least 15 people were killed and an additional 30 people were injured in the attack. The driver of the truck fired at law enforcement and was then killed in a shootout. Investigators discovered an explosive device and an Islamic State flag in the perpetrator’s vehicle.
