At least 20 protesters were arrested following the presidential election on October 12th.
Last week, opposition candidate, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, claimed victory over Paul Biya, the current president. Biya’s party rejected this declaration. The final official results are expected to be announced by the constitutional council by October 26th. Following the election, protests broke out with many claiming election fraud. Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, confimed the arrest of several of the protesters, but the total number is unknown.
