Canada Will Have a New Prime Minister. Here’s What to Know. 

Over the weekend, Mark Carney was elected as the new leader of Canada’s Liberal Party. He will become prime minister at a critical time for Canada as it faces threats from President Trump. Carney governed the Bank of Canada during the 2008 financial crisis and served as governor of the Bank of England during Brexit in addition to being a successful private sector banker. Carney will soon be forced to call a general election where the Liberals will face off with the Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre. The election ends Justin Trudeau’s time as prime minister for the past decade.
