Security forces in Chad say that they have prevented an armed assault on the presidential complex in N’Djamena, the capital. At least 19 people were killed in the incident on Wednesday evening. Chad’s Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah said that the situation is now under control. The attempted assault coincided with an official visit from China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who met with Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Deby just hours before.
