The Chinese government is warning other countries not to curb their trade with China to win favor with the US and avoid American tariffs. China is promising to retaliate against countries that do this. The announcement comes after reports that the Trump administration is trying to pressure other foreign countries to slow their trade with China in attempts to make China come to the negotiating table. Although the Trump administration has not officially made an announcement about a pressure campaign of this type, Trump has signaled openness to the idea. China is currently working to strengthen ties with other countries to prevent isolation and present itself as a reliable trade partner.
