European intelligence agencies dismantle Belarus spy network
Intelligence services from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania dismantled a spy network operated by Belarus’ KGB across multiple European countries. The operation uncovered a former deputy head of Moldova’s intelligence service who provided classified information to Belarusian agents during meetings in Budapest. Czech authorities expelled a Belarusian diplomat and arrested a 47-year-old Moldovan suspect on treason charges. The Czech intelligence chief called for restricting the movement of Russian and Belarusian diplomats within Europe’s borderless Schengen area to prevent future hostile activities.
