Denmark tests unmanned robotic sailboat fleet with tensions high in the region

Four robotic sailboats have been put into service by Denmark’s armed forces for a short operational trial.

Denmark has partnered with Salidrome, a California-based company, to monitor threats like damage to undersea cables and weapons smuggling. Known as “Voyagers,” the 30-foot-long vessels are powered by wind and solar energy and carry no crew. Amidst maritime disruptions from transatlantic tensions and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Denmark and other NATO members are moving to adopt this technology to build a layered maritime surveillance system.
