Donald Trump elected 47th US president

The U.S. presidential election has culminated in the election of Donald Trump as the 47th U.S. president. The vote was called early on Wednesday morning, with the race being far less tight than was predicted. Currently, Trump holds 277 electoral votes while Kamala Harris holds 224 out of the required 270. Analysts believe Trump’s victory stems from frustrations in the U.S. public over key issues such as the economy, inflation, and U.S. involvement in global conflicts. While Trump’s victory has received international congratulations, it will add uncertainty to the current geopolitical situation. He has promised to end the Russia-Ukraine war in a day, worrying Ukraine that it will be pressured to give territory to Russia. Similarly, Trump has boasted that he would end Israel’s war with Hamas in just hours.
