Drone attack in gang-controlled slum in Haiti kills at least 8 children, injures 6 others

Children killed as controversial drone warfare escalates.

Explosive drones targeting a suspected gang leader in Haiti’s Cité Soleil slum killed at least eight children and wounded six others during a birthday celebration on Saturday night. Human rights activists accused police of launching the attack, which also killed three civilians, including a motorcycle taxi driver returning from work. The incident marks the second deadly drone operation this month that has killed civilians, raising urgent questions about accountability, as no officials have taken responsibility for the attacks. The violence comes as Haiti deploys private security contractors and struggles with an underfunded UN mission to combat gangs that control 90% of the capital.
