Europe could get Cypriot natural gas by 2027, president says

Cyprus eyes natural gas exports to Europe by 2027.

Cyprus plans to begin exporting natural gas from its Cronos deposit by 2027, with processing in Egypt before shipment to Europe. President Nikos Christodoulides said the project could provide an alternative energy corridor, offering supplies comparable to Russia’s former Nord Stream pipeline. Energy Minister George Papanastasiou noted Cronos gas could connect quickly to existing Egyptian infrastructure, while separate plans for the Aphrodite deposit involve a floating plant to serve Egypt and Europe. Cyprus is also pursuing new exploration licenses, with ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy already discovering sizable deposits in southern waters.
