Pemex pipeline spill contaminates Mexican river after torrential rains

Torrential rains in Mexico damaged a pipeline, causing an oil spill.

Torrential rains in Mexico that caused the deaths of 76 people from October 6th through October 10th also damaged a pipeline. This lead to a 5-mile oil spill along the Pantepec River. The Pantepec River supplies water for many communities, including the city of Tuxpan. The mayor of Tuxpan, Jesús Fomperoza, stated that Pemex, the Navy, and other security and environmental agents are working with officials to contain the spill.
