Following the capture of a city in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday, hundreds of protestors have now attacked foreign embassies and a United Nations building in the country’s capital, Kinshasa. The rebel offensive, supported by Rwanda, is threatening to cause chaos in the region. Protestors burned tires and threw stones in front of the U.S. Embassy’s main compound on Tuesday. Additionally, individuals breached a new embassy building currently under construction. This latest offensive by the M23 rebel group has displaced over 500,000 people since the beginning of the year.
