Due to malfunctions in its national power grid, Syria has suffered a nationwide power outage. Technical teams are working to address the issues which began on Tuesday night. There are no initial signs that an attack was behind the outage. Power will gradually return to Syria’s provinces. The country suffers from severe power outages, and state-supplied electricity is typically available for only two to three hours a day in a majority of areas. Oil for power generation used to come from Iran, but these supplies have been cut off.
