Latakia wildfires contained after ten days of intense firefighting.

Syrian civil defense and emergency management officials announced on Sunday that wildfires that raged through the mountains of coastal Latakia province for ten days have been brought under control. Reinforcements from Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Qatar, and Iraq joined Syrian ground crews and aircraft to open firebreaks, cool hotspots, and prevent flare-ups across more than 15,000 hectares of burned forest. United Nations teams have allocated emergency funds to assist thousands of displaced residents and are coordinating with local authorities to address urgent humanitarian needs.
