On Monday, President Trump and President Emmanuel Macron met for the first time since last month’s inauguration. The two officials put on a show of friendship, but signs of the growing divide between the U.S. and Europe over the Russia-Ukraine war were apparent. While Trump declined to call Putin a dictator, Macron stated that “the aggressor is Russia.” Trump also said he may go to Moscow if a peace agreement is reached, which he predicts will happen within weeks. This would make Trump the first American president to visit the country in over a decade.
