Over the weekend, President Trump’s deputy Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus visited Lebanon to discuss the Israeli truce. Although the U.S. had brokered a ceasefire deal between Hezbollah and Israel, strikes have continued over the past two weeks. The Lebanese government has been working to rebuild the country after the war between Israel and Hezbollah killed around 4,000 and displaced roughly one million. Ortagus met with Lebanon’s new president, Joseph Aoun, this past weekend to discuss issues with the ceasefire, including that the Lebanese military has not yet taken charge in the country’s south.
