President Trump is responding to China’s lack of action with his proposal of additional 10 percent tariffs on China. In Trump’s view, China has not made efforts to stop fetanyl’s flow into the U.S. The Chinese are avoiding initiating a conversation with Trump before they fully understand what he wants, and are having a difficult time identifying reliable U.S. personnel to go through. Trump’s advisers state that he is interested in striking a deal with China and wants the Chinese to invest in the U.S.
