The U.S. will continue to send arms to Israel although Israel has not improved humanitarian aid access in Gaza. The Biden administration had set a 30-day deadline for Israel to meet its aid criteria, which Israel failed to do. However, the State Department said that it will not decrease weapons aid. On October 13, U.S. officials stated that the country would reassess military aid sent to Israel if Israel did not increase aid access in Gaza. By law, if military forces are deemed to be committing “gross violations of human rights” the U.S. cannot supply aid. U.N. officials have stated that Israel’s blocking of aid is a violation of international law. They believe that the entire population of Gaza is facing food insecurity, and that the area is on the verge of famine.
