US trade partners criticise Trump for 25-percent steel, aluminium tariffs 

U.S. allies are condemning President Donald Trump for his decision to put 25% tariff rates on all steel and aluminum imports starting next month. Leaders of several of the U.S.’s main trading partners, including Mexico, Canada, and the European Union are describing the latest move as “reckless” and “counterproductive.” The allies have warned that they would respond with their own tariffs in retaliation. The EU has stated that they will “trigger firm and proportionate countermeasures.” Trump is framing the tariffs as a question of national security. They will take effect on March 12.
