China’s leader Xi Jinping had a video call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday during which the two countries reaffirmed their friendship. The move is an apparent rebuff to recent ideas that the Trump administration would divide Russia and China. Xi said that China and Russia were “true friends who have been through thick and thin together” on the call. The call came on the three year anniversary of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
