The first phase of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas ended on Sunday, and now the two actors are pursuing different paths for negotiations. Hamas is insisting on implementing the second phase of the original agreement, which includes the end of the war, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and hostage releases. Israel, however, has proposed a seven-week extension of the current deal. Hamas has already rejected this proposal.
