Xi and Putin discuss relations with Trump, Ukraine and Taiwan 

The day after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the U.S., Russian President Valdimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met to discuss bilateral ties. Putin and Xi discussed their prospective contacts with their prospective contacts with the new administration, and spoke for over an hour and a half. The two leaders additionally talked about boosting trade between their countries. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov told reports that, “It was also noted from our side that we are ready for dialogue with the new US administration on the Ukrainian conflict.” Ushakov said that Putin does not want a short-term ceasefire with Ukraine, but instead wants long-term peace.
