NDP website fought off 600 hackers daily

Secure technology and 24-hour human surveillance prevented data leaks during e-bidding for National Day Parade tickets. THERE were some 600 attempts a day to hack into the National Day website while Singaporeans were busy submitting their bids for the coveted National Day Parade (NDP) tickets. But neither bids nor personal particulars were at risk, since none of the hackers got through the robust website set up by local companies InterAuct! and SecureCiRT. Aside from local attacks, there were also those from countries such as Pakistan, China, India, Korea and Taiwan. Mr Benjamin Quek, general manager of SecureCiRT, told The Straits Times that technology as well as human intervention helped block the attacks. SecureCiRT, an IT security firm, ensured a ‘proper hardening of the system’ by trying to break into the site itself before the system went live on June 4. Full Story
