Terror-Related Charges Filed Over Missile Sting

Federal prosecutors on Wednesday announced terrorism-related charges against a British arms dealer who praised Osama bin Laden and tried to smuggle into the United States missiles he believed would be used to down commercial aircraft. Two other suspected accomplices to the plot, which was really a sting operation orchestrated by U.S., Russian and British authorities, face charges of conspiring to move money illegally, prosecutors said. “This morning, the terrorists who threatened America lost an ally in their quest to kill our citizens,” U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie told a news conference in Newark, New Jersey. Arms dealer Hemant Lakhani, 68, appeared before a federal magistrate in Newark on charges of providing material support to terrorists and of illegal weapons dealing. Full Story
