Since he started work, Peter James Moore has hardly had time to get acquainted with his Asian Pacific office, which has a serene sea view. And odds are that the newly-appointed chief technology officer of Microsoft for the Asia-Pacific and Greater China regions will not be appreciating the scenery for some time yet, given the rising challengers-from Linux to Oracle to hackers-that affront Microsoft.
