Security Firm Says Several More Microsoft Vulnerabilities Await Fixes

eEye Digital Security, the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based vendor that spotted the major Windows flaw which Microsoft patched Tuesday, says it knows of another seven vulnerabilities, but is waiting on Microsoft to post fixes before detailing them. eEye has posted a list of seven additional Microsoft bugs on its Web site — three of them tagged with a “high” severity rating — but has not disclosed details. Instead, it’s waiting on Microsoft to produce patches before disclosing what it knows about the security problems. On Tuesday, Microsoft released a patch that fixed what eEye and others are calling one of the most serious Windows security vulnerabilities ever. eEye originally brought the matter to Microsoft’s attention in July, 2003, but held its tongue for seven months while the Windows operating system developer created and tested the patch.
