Maoist rebels kill nine police in Nepal

Hundreds of Maoist rebels attacked a police station in southern Nepal, killing at least nine police, government officials said yesterday. Twenty police officers were still missing and possibly taken hostage after about 400 rebels raided the post about midnight on Sunday in Yadukuwa village, about 300km (190 miles) south-east of Kathmandu. A gunbattle raged for three hours, and telephone lines were knocked down, cutting communication between police. Full Story
