Egyptian intelligence warned United States officials about a week before September 11 that Osama bin Laden`s network was in the advance stages of executing a significant operation against an American target, according to Egypt`s President Hosni Mubarak. Egyptian intelligence chiefs used an agent close to al-Qaeda in a vain bid to halt the operation. But they had no indication what the target would be or the scale of the attack. Full Story
