More Than $110 Million Allocated to Keep Pennsylvania Safe, Secure; Mass Transit, Critical Infrastructure Designated for Targeted Funding. Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced his plan for the disbursement of more than $110 million in federal homeland security funds awarded to the Commonwealth under the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP), the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP) and the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). Allocations were made in accordance with the recently completed state homeland security assessment and strategy, a three-year plan collaboratively developed by state, county and local authorities with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security. Population and the amount of critical infrastructure at risk were key measurements used in the resource-allocation process. Full Story
